First Step Hockey
First Step Hockey is a beginner program available to kids of all ages to introduce them to ice skating in preparation for their journey to hockey! Players will work on their skating skills while developing their interest in hockey through fun and games. The purpose of this program is to develop on-ice familiarity, coordination, and strength. No skating experience is necessary (though skating aids will be allowed). This program is open to boys and girls from any local area town.
Required equipment: Hockey Skates, Helmet, Gloves. Hockey stick and full equipment (elbow pads, shin/knee guards, pants) recommended. All new players receive a SYHA hockey jersey at no additional cost.
Equipment starter packages and equipment discounts available at Vincent Sports Shop and Dick's Sporting Goods.
The cost for this program will be $50 per skater.

What aged players are appropriate for this program?
First Step is for young skaters who are just getting started on the ice; we accept kids of any age!

Our first session will take place Saturdays in October:
October 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st

Where are practices and games typically held?
All practices are held at ISCC (International Skating Center) in Simsbury, CT.

First Step Sessions are held every Saturday morning at 7:45am at ISCC (Mini Rinks)

USA Hockey registration number is required to register with SYHA First Step Hockey.
